  • Games Spot Reviews: Hitman Go VR Review

Hitman Go is an excellent example of a game that takes core elements from a franchise and turns them into something wholly different, while feeling through and through like it belongs. As you solve its puzzles, you feel like you're making your way towards an assassination target, completely undetected. It's marvelous how a simple and engaging puzzle game can be nothing like its precursor yet maintain a similar spirit. It's something that carries over to virtual reality but isn't helped by it--instead, it makes a poor case for why you should play it in VR at all.

  • Games Spot Reviews: Shadow of the Beast Review

Those of us who read our game manuals cover to cover in the '80s were often treated to verbose backstories that help set the scene. These introductions provided context that was often missing within the game, and a deeper understanding of the hero’s motivation. In its modern reimagining of Shadow of the Beast, Heavy Spectrum brings one of these decades old text descriptions to life.

  • Games Spot Reviews: Party Hard Review

After a long day of work, you come home exhausted, make yourself dinner, take a quick shower, watch some television or play a video game. Then you try to get some sleep. After a few unsuccessful hours of tossing and turning, it’s already 3AM. You lie in your bed wide awake. The massive college party next door, with its obnoxious electronic music, isn't letting up. Do you complain? Do you call the cops? Nope. Instead, you put on a hockey mask, grab a butcher’s knife, and kill everyone at the party.

  • Games Spot Reviews: Total War: Warhammer Review

Screeching gears, rhythmic boot steps, and the soft crunch of fresh snow. These were the first notes of my invasion. I sought the Dwarfen capital of Karak Varn. The Dwarfs, hardy and resilient though they may be, were a thorn for my new allies, the green-skinned Orcs and goblins. I held my siege for weeks, and while my foes’ numbers dwindled, mine grew. After each clash, I wrenched the newly dead from the earth and added them to my fiendish, Vampire hordes. Siege engines ready, and carried yon by fresh Dwarfen zombies, I steeled my undead warriors for the final assault.

  • Games Spot Reviews: Homefront: The Revolution Review

Somewhere within Homefront: The Revolution--beneath the choppy framerate, the hackneyed narrative, and the half-explored mechanics that are hastily introduced then forgotten just as quickly--exists a solid, cinematic shooter. All the ingredients are there. It casts players as American resistance fighters--outmanned and outgunned, but resourceful and resilient--which naturally paves the way for both novel gameplay and daring political themes. Unfortunately, Homefront doesn't quite deliver on either one.

In Doom, I see a world brimming with demons, explosions, and hellfire. I see familiar faces screaming, with bloodthirsty eyes and unwavering stares. Playing it delivers the same cathartic craze the original Doom and Doom II did in the early '90s: overwhelmed by the horrors around every turn, but empowered with an impressive collection of weapons at the ready.

A recent court case agrees commercial users can be charged for content that is resold for profit. However non commercial blogs etc would not be charged.

However it appears some press associations are getting rather greedy and are chasing private bloggers for fees if they are using some local newspaper feeds.

They appear to be using a debt collection business called Buchanan Clark & Wells of Glasgow who are sending made up charges for use of copyright material.

  • Glastonbury Festival 2011

    22/06/2011 to 26/06/2011

Glastonbury Festival is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world and a template for all the festivals that have come after it. The difference is that Glastonbury has all the best aspects of being at a Festival in one astonishing bundle.

The Festival takes place on 22-26 June 2011 in a beautiful location - 900 acres in the Vale of Avalon, an area steeped in symbolism, mythology and religious traditions dating back many hundreds of years. The site is enormous - more than a mile and a half across, with a perimeter of about eight and a half miles.

Then there are the people, thousands of them in all their astonishing and splendid diversity! There is only one common characteristic of a Glastonbury-goer - they understand that Glastonbury Festival offers them more opportunity than any other happening to have the best weekend of the year or even of a life-time, and they are determined to have it!

Some of this year's pyramid stage acts include: Gorillaz, Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend, Snoop Dogg, Muse, Shakira, Tinchy Stryder, Stevie Wonder, Faithless, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones and Paloma Faith.

  • BROOKLYN TO BLOOMSBURY - 25th March 2011 - London

Bloomsbury Gets a Taste of Brooklyn

Why fly to the most diverse, vibrant and musically talented district in New York when its coming to Bloomsbury Lanes’ doors?

Brooklyn to Bloomsbury lands on the 25th March for a night of diverse, pulsating, authentic Brooklyn entertainment!

Internationally acclaimed Brooklyn Boy Wonder DJ Kenny Mitchell who is turning critics’ heads with his up rising and we are lucky to have him play a set of Brooklyn inspired house and electronic.

The Ramones may not have been from Brooklyn (neighbouring Queens) but they are certainly steeped in the tradition of the borough (Marky Ramone even has his own "Brooklyn Pasta Sauce") so to pay homage to this all time great band we have The Ramona’s performing live!

It would be silly of us to pay tribute to Brooklyn’s electronic and rock scene and ignore the fine Hip Hop that has come from the borough. Biggie Smalls, Jay Z and Talib Kwali just to name a few all were born and raised in Brooklyn so to pay homage we have Mixcloud Maestro DJ Sketchy playing a Brooklyn Hip Hop Set!

Bloomsbury’s resident DJ duo Max Bant were itching to get involved in the party so they will be contributing a Brooklyn inspired Indie/Alternative set (expect Lou Reed by the barrel load).

As well as Brooklyn music we also wanted to bring the best produce Brooklyn has to offer. We have teamed up with Brooklyn Breweries and White Rock to serve you the best Brooklyn cocktails and beers that are guaranteed to have your thirst quenched!

The Bloomsbury Diner will also be receiving a Brooklyn twist, we will be serving Brooklyn Bagels and Coney Island hot dogs all night!

Whilst ALL this is happening make sure you get yourself over to the outside smoking area where we will be having live graffiti artists turning our ‘infamous’ wall into a graffiti artists Mecca and the artists will also be doing live tagging and custom-made t-shirt prints for you to take away.

Grafiti isn’t the only art on display as we have teamed up with The New York Photo Festival to display our personal favourites from their Capture Brooklyn exhibition.

Brooklyn Industries supplying the finest Brooklyn industrial designed garms will be giving away vouchers for you on the night so you can get a fresh set of attire the Brooklyn way!

Laird London will be in the venue selling gentleman’s authentic Brooklyn hats so you can pick one up and look extra cool.

This is not just a club night this is a Bloomsbury club night. So get yourself down here to have the biggest party in New London.
